Tree Felling, Dorrington Road Allotments, Lancaster, Lancashire

We were asked to remove eight trees at Dorrington Road Allotments in Lancaster to improve growing conditions by allowing more sunlight onto the allotment plots. Increasing light levels can make a significant difference to fruit and vegetable production, particularly where mature trees have gradually begun to overshadow cultivated areas.

 The Challenge

The trees formed the upper row along the edge of the allotments and needed to be removed safely without damaging neighbouring plots or disrupting the site more than necessary. The timber was also to be left in manageable lengths for the allotment holders to make use of.

Our Solution

Working systematically, we felled all eight trees and cross-cut the timber into practical lengths for the allotment community. Branches and smaller material were processed and cleared, ensuring the site was left safe and tidy while making the most of the timber rather than sending it all away as waste.

The Result

The removal of the trees has opened up the allotments, allowing much more natural light to reach the growing areas. The allotment holders were left with useful firewood, and the site was left clean and ready for another productive growing season.
